From Kittery to Newport to Mystic to Catskills...

29th Decemeber was one LONG......day on the road!!!

Leaving our comfy Kittery inn, we headed to Newport in Rhode Island for some "sight-seeing". Listed as a "true sight-seeing mecca", I felt it is more of a rich man's playground from the 1800's. A "scenic drive" along the coast of Newport truly took our breaths away at how insanely rich people can be. Some of the humongous mansions probably houses 20 bed rooms(or more) and each of them own a piece of their own paradise on earth, facing the tranquil sea(and maybe seals, i heard?) and each with lotsa acres of land surrounding their property. The town itself oozes all New England charm with its own tacky souvenir shops selling hammerhead and nurse shark babies preserved in jars at the cashier counters. Eeew!!!!

The White Horse Tavern claims to be the nation's oldest continuously operating tavern since 1673. Oh yes, this place is ancient - and it smells so too! Hahaha... Fearless and young, we barged towards the bar and conquored the beer.

After Newport, we headed towards Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. This is the world's largest maritime museum spanning across 17 acres with more than 40 buildings from 1800's. Alas, we arrived at 4.30pm and the museum closed 30mins before. The lady refuses to let us in. Lazy bastards! Dejected and tired, we headed for some love and warmth in Mystic Pizza for dinner - exactly where the self-titled movie starring Julia Roberts was filmed. I've never heard of the movie before but anyway, the pizza was good! =) We may have to head back to this charming town again...Emmanuel seemed so sad not being able to visit the museum.

With our stomachs filled, we settled in for a long drive to Catskills Mountains.
