Baby Gadgets and Surprise Baby Shower!

Look what the weather blew in these days!

After such a hot and humid summer and an even barely chilly autumn, winter just blasted into our front door without so much as a "HELLO"! Only 6 days into December, it has already snowed twice and I think we might have a good chance of an actual White Christmas this year! Yeah! Yep, it is that time of the year to drag out our Christmas tree bling-blings and decorations! Not to mention presents! *wink* AND drinking eggnog topped with nutmeg and cinnamon! And chugging a warm Gludwein in your hands while snuggling on the couch is one of life's little pleasures. *chink!*

Quick Tummy Update:

With barely 4 more weeks to go before popping time, husband and I are busy preparing our home to welcome the kiddo. It's simply unbelievable how much things a small little bundle of a baby requires! It's like as if another person is moving into our house(which is, in a sense, true). Except that we are the ones buying the clothes and shampoo for him. And even underwear(diapers).

Coming from a Singaporean-Chinese family which used cloth diapers back in those days, I am constantly amazed how the mandatory baby "gadgets" and "necessities" have evolved over the years. There are fancy-cool strollers that cost almost US$999, "smooth motion gliders" that will soothe your baby into sleep and even eco-green clothes made of organic cotton for your beloved child. WOW.

Parenthood in the 21st century is very competitive indeed(and stressful). Although we think the Bugaboo strollers are dandy and all, we balk at spending close to a 4-figure sum for it just to display the baby in public. YET, throughout Manhattan, Bugaboos rule the streets and even subways with their high and toitty "elevated" baby seats. It became such a common sight I almost wish I have a share in Bugaboo considering the insanely high profit margin they must enjoy with every set out of the warehouse!

On Sunday, we came home from the movies to find that our home was invaded! Kim & some friends have decided to throw a Surprise Baby Shower party for us and what a surprise it turned out to be! Ripping presents while sitting next to the Christmas tree makes me feel like Christmas has arrived early indeed!
Thank you guys for all the lovely presents and for being here!!! =)

And Dan, Emmanuel and I are looking forward to spending a LOT of time in the new Glider chair! *whoosh!* We might also put in our massage chair on top of the Glider so we can indulge into a little glide and "ooh-aah" at the same time. *wink*

In the US, it is tradition for friends to throw a Baby Shower for the mother-to-be about 1 month before the baby is due. I like the US concept of a "Baby Gift Registry" where you select anything your baby needs from strollers to cribs at the baby-friendly retail store and friends/family can go online to buy a gift for your newborn based on what you need. It is a very practical system instead of getting repeat random items.

And this is one of the most unique bunches of "flowers" I have ever received. All the "roses" are actually little pieces of baby clothing, hats, socks, bibs rolled into a rose. Guess who sent it? Hehe... ;p

Operation Baby is almost complete and now all we have to do is WAIT. *tap-a-tappity-tap-tap!*
