Summerbeachbums!

It's Grrrrrreat to be back in NYC and to find it almost the same as back home! Weather's gloriously hot and humid and i can walk around in shorts and tank tops! Life's great! Miraculously, I lost 2kg just by being back home in SG and I have no idea how that happened when I was stuffing greasy roti prata and coconutty laksa down my throat. Hmmm....maybe that's why. ;p

Presenting...Mami-chan! The star of our weekend! Afte her whirlwind biz trip to Europe, Brazil and Mexico, she made her final curtain call at NYC. We all drove up to New jersey's Sandy Hook Beach and spent the early morning melting under the relentless sun and trying to avoid the poison ivy (which proved to be mission impossible in the narrow nature trail). Giving up the useless fight with the poison ivy, we lazybummers headed back to the beach for our summerbeachbum session. Unlike what I would normally call a beach in Asia, this one's lacking the quintessential coconut trees providing shade for our delicate Asian skin and the swingin' hammocks. It is so darn hot that you have to rent an umbrella otherwise you are gonna end up being cooked for sure! The water's really chillin' at first but despite that tiny detail, we hurled our parched bodies into the open sea with gusto and emerged more refreshed than drinking coca-cola. So darn shiok(SG slang for "damn good")! The only BIG difference here when we took a stroll down the beach is that...there are much bigger bodies littering the beach. HUGE ones, might I add. Cellulites, flabby breasts and we even saw a "sitting buddha" by the sand. And then, there are the sexy, gym-worked-out, tattoed bodies of gloriously looking(and firm) lifeguards and high school girls. Ahhh...this is summer indeed.

Our dearest neighbours down on 104th street kindly invited us to take a lazy dinner at their Apple Garden and off we went. The nice apple tree in Kim's garden is filled with delicious looking but tiny green apples and I can't wait for them to ripen n fall and then bite into a slice of home-made apple cinnamon tart. What a nice way to end the weekend with friends all around a garden right in the heart of Manhattan, enjoying good company, wine and gooey camembert cheese. Bliss.
