I found ROTI CHANAI in NYC!!!

OMG! You have no idea what this means to me.
Eversince I came back from France, waves of homesickness and foodsickness have been washing over me and I would crave for Bak Chor Mee on Monday, then Tiong Bahru Chwee Kway on Wed and then Roti Prata on Sat. It drives me crazy that I can't just go "downstairs" and "tapow" it home to eat! I so miss hawker centres, i tell ya...

SO...today we went to the Chinatown here, spent a relaxing morning getting coiffed up in the hair salon complete with a nice head massage and all. For lunch, we popped into this Penang restaurant I have seen many times and thought a Malaysian restaurant is as close as I can get to satisfy my Singapore food cravings. And VOILA!!! They have Roti Chanai!!! The equivalent of roti prata back home!!! And you know what? This is one of the best roti chanai's I have EVER eaten, even compared to those back in Asia! It is thinner and less oily than the usual roti pratas we get in the indian kopitiams and the curry is fragrant and so delicious you can drink the whole bowl! OMG - this is heaven!

I am SOOOO....excited by this find. They have Penang Char Kway Teow, Penang Asam Laksa, Mee Siam, Satay, Bobo Chacha, Bubur Hitam, Popiah, Fishead Noodle(Yeah!!!), Mee Goreng, Nasi Lemak, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Beef Rendang(but, of course), Salted Fish Fried Rice, Stingray Pengkang with Sambal Belachan(always my fave), Fishhead Curry and even mango with sticky rice dessert!!! Wah piang! I think I just found heaven on earth! Out of their whole menu, I think I have picked out at least 29 dishes to try in future. *slurp!!!*

I have to stop obsessing with food and get back to serious blogging and uploading our pics.
